The Cassville boys golf team hosted its annual Cassville Wildcat Invitational on Thursday, welcoming 21 teams to the Cassville Golf Club.

Clay Bagby, Cassville boys golf coach, said he was happy with how his Wildcats played at home.

“Overall, our home tournament went well, and we have had a decent start to the season team-wise with results,” he said.

A total of 103 golfers took to the links, and the Wildcats finished fourth as a team with 339 strokes. Neosho won the event with 318, Monett had 328 and Nevada finished with 331.

Individually, Dennis Craig led the Wildcats with a 12th-place finish, shooting an 82. Kaleb Artherton was 15th with an 84, Aiden McBroom was 18th with an 85, Cheney Kelley was 25th with an 88, and Tyson Bohmke was 34th with a 91.

Bradley Stumpff and Will Brooks both shot 94s, and Kyle Brown rounded out the squad with a 98.

Bagby said while the tournament was a success, there is room for improvement in the remainder of the season.

“I think the boys feel they can play better than they have at times individually, and they need to eliminate some of the higher numbers to give themselves the best chance to be successful when it comes time for conference and district play.”

Cassville plays next in the Aurora Tournament on Thursday.
