Memorial Day Poppy Festival brings 2,000 visitors to Pa’s Posey Patch
The inaugural Memorial Day Poppy Festival at Pa’s Posey Patch south of Cassville boasted a turnout of some 2,000 guests, said Dennis Epperly, the “Pa” of the patch.
Stumpff appointed to CS Bank Board
Charlie Cross, CEO, CS Bank, has announced the appointment of Donnie Stumpff to the bank’s Advisory Board of Directors. Stumpff is the President and Owner of Stumpff’s Realty & Auction Service Inc., in Cassville and resides in Cassville with his wife Teresa.

First Cars & Pizza Cruise In a hit
A Cars & Pizza Cruise In was held Saturday at Roaring River Health and Rehab. The event, organized by Caden Swearingen and RRHR Activities Director Norma Kirkpatrick, served as a fundraiser for the residential care facility’s upcoming Golden Age Games. Sandy Larson, of Cassville, first told her story of recovery two years ago, on May 26, 2021. Sandy’s Celebrate Recovery testimony was part of a 12-part series published in the Cassville Democrat, one step of the 12-step program for each month of the year.

This week, Cassville’s Public Works and Wastewater staff has switched to summer operating hours (shifts start and end an hour earlier). The change in hours was in anticipation of summer weather and occurs each year between Memorial Day and Labor Day.

Search party formed for missing Mercy doctor
A physician at Mercy Hospital is considered missing after not arriving for a shift in Cassville on Sunday and police finding his vehicle abandoned. John Forsyth, 49, of Republic, is 5-11 and 180 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes, possibly wearing a black shirt and blue/gray pants. He was last seen at 7 a.m. on Sunday.
Driver found dead after motor vehicle accident
The Cassville Police Department is investigating the death of an individual after the person was located in a vehicle following a motor vehicle accident. According to Sgt. Donnie Privett, with the Cassville Police Department, officers were dispatched to the area of West 10th Street and County Farm Road, across from Ken’s Collision Center, for a motor vehicle accident at around 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Forgey retires from Wheaton
Thursday morning, the Wheaton High School office was filled with gifts and cards for a man who has left more of an impact than he realizes. Dale Forgey, administrative assistant at the high school, is retiring after 12 years in the post, where his positive influence on students at the district will not be soon forgotten.

Cassville Education Fund awards grants
Four grants totaling $3,450 from the Cassville Education Fund were awarded to Cassville teachers on May 12 at the school campus. Seventh- and eighth-grade science teacher Casey Parsons received $1,300 for chemistry sets, microscopes and slide sets.

28 years of Arbor Day in Exeter
Exeter celebrated Arbor Day for the 28th year in the Exeter City Park. In attendance this year was Susie Sorensen, Tree Board Member; Rhonda Scott, City Councilman; Ashley Lowe, Tree Board Vice President; and Jon Skinner, Municipal Forester with Missouri Department of Conservation. Skinner presented the board with the Tree City USA 27th year award.
