Justin Boot buildings Sold

Nearly four years after closing its doors in 2020, Justin Boot factory in Cassville is now under new ownership. Paul Sidio, a Spokane businessman, worked with local Auctioneer Donnie Stumpff to purchase the pair of buildings on County Farm Road from Justin Boot and Berkshire Hathaway, closing the deal on April 12.

Firearm pulled in Purdy burglary

A Butterfield man is facing a felony charge after allegedly attempting to steal items from a home being built in Purdy, caught and confronted by area residents. Timothy Plopper, 34, of Butterfield, is charged with second- degree burglary and misdemeanor second-degree property damage.

Wesley Wizards conquer Trivia Night

The Wesley Wizards, a team representing the Cassville United Methodist Church won first place at the Cassville Education Fund’s Trivia Night on Friday, winning the overall competition. Newsflash!, a team sponsored by the Cassville Democrat, won the “Smarty Pants” award for most trivia questions answered correctly.

Barry County Sheriff’s Office calls for service and reports taken

The Barry County Sheriff's Office responded to 197 calls for service for the week of April 8-14. The CAD events created by central dispatch are the Calls for Service Barry County Officers respond to every day, included in those calls are alarms, assaults, burglaries, domestic disturbances, DWI's, stealing, harassment, medical issues, paper service, prisoner transports, suspicious persons, traffic stops and warrant service. New view in absence of Hall Theatre

Demolition of the Hall Theatre at the corner of West and Eighth streets, which was destroyed in a March 1, 2022 blaze, has opened up a new view of the courthouse square and idea of what the future may hold for the location. Presently, the city of Cassville, which was allowed to demolish the structure after months of court proceedings, plans to convert the area into a parking lot.
