First State Bank celebrates 80 years
Events scheduled at each local branch, culminating in concert First State Bank of Purdy is excited to announce the celebration of its 80th anniversary, marking eight decades of unwavering commitment to the community. “Since our founding in June 1944 as the successor to the First National Bank of Purdy, we have proudly served our neighbors with integrity, dedication, and a personal touch,” a bank press release said.
Barry County Sheriff’s Office calls for service and reports taken, May 13-19
The Barry County Sheriff's Office responded to 225 calls for service for the week of May 13-19. The CAD events created by central dispatch are the Calls for Service Barry County Officers respond to every day, included in those calls are alarms, assaults, burglaries, domestic disturbances, DWI's, stealing, harassment, medical issues, paper service, prisoner transports, suspicious persons, traffic stops and warrant service. Size matters in passed bill
When it comes to pending new regulations for waste-storage basins and tanks, size will make a difference. Earthen basins the size of Denali Water Solutions’ Evans and Gideon lagoons, in Newton and McDonald Counties — which each have a storage capacity of about 15 million gallons — could be subject to tighter regulations if proposed legislation is signed into law by Governor Parson.

The change in plans to build a new branch of the Barry-Lawrence Regional Library in Shell Knob has generated a sharp rebuke from those who donated land for the proposed project. Donors are seeking answers as they criticize the change in direction by the library board.

Purdy seniors awarded diplomas

3 injured in Hwy. 86 wreck

100+ Women expands reach
The Monett Museum witnessed a gathering of community-minded women on May 2, as the second quarter meeting of the local 100+ Women organization took place. The event featured presentations from Katie Dillman, of Make Our Day, and Amy Sampson, representing the Monett Historical Society.
