Legislators urge Fertilizer Control Board to take action

In an April 4 letter addressed to the director and members of the Missouri Fertilizer Control Board (MoFCB), six Missouri legislators — including two representing Barry County — urged the MoFCB to reconsider the practice of issuing fertilizer permits on behalf of the state’s fertilizer control program (FCP) for materials containing sludge, biosolids or other process wastes intended for land-application.

Garden Sass Farmer’s Market opens

Cherie Love, center, owner of Herbal Creations, was a vendor at the Garden Sass Farmers Market on the Cassville Square on April 1. The Garden Sass Farmers Market opened for the season with some nine vendors, including a food truck, Saturday morning on the Cassville Square. Although many of the vendors were regulars, three vendors reported that it was their first time in attendance, and that they look forward to participating all season.
