The Southwest High School Chapter of the National Honor Society (NHS) inducted 13 new members and installed new officers at a ceremony on April 12. The new members are: Abbie Clark, Addison Cotton, Riley Flippo, Kayla Hendrix, Addison Keates, Piper King, Kelsee Merritt, Saige Miller, Tristan Morgan, Rebecca Swanepoel, Montana Skelton, Kaleigh Tull and Rachel Willer.

The Missouri State Board of Education held its regular April meeting at the Emory Melton Inn and Conference Center at Roaring River State Park.

The city of Cassville’s overhaul of its sanitary sewer system is underway, beginning with open trench excavations on 11th Street. David Brock, Cassville public works director, said excavations were expected to begin the week of April 10, beginning at 11th and Fair streets, continuing northwest on 11th Street to Main Street (Business Highway 37).

Winfred Prier, owner of Ball & Prier Tire in Golden, made a 56-year career out of tire sales until his retirement some 10 years ago. However, the Golden Pioneer Museum, which he also owns, was in the works long before he began selling tires, even though he didn’t realize it at the time.

Two incumbents and a former board member won seats on the Cassville School Board in the April 4 election. Of the 2,927 votes cast across 11 precincts, incumbent Dr.

Cherie Love, center, owner of Herbal Creations, was a vendor at the Garden Sass Farmers Market on the Cassville Square on April 1. The Garden Sass Farmers Market opened for the season with some nine vendors, including a food truck, Saturday morning on the Cassville Square. Although many of the vendors were regulars, three vendors reported that it was their first time in attendance, and that they look forward to participating all season. The judged artwork of students in the Ozark 7 Conference is on display at the Barry County Museum in Cassville through April 22.
