Michele “Morris” Hovland

Michele (Morris) Hovland was born Nov. 6, 1960, in Ventura, Calif., the daughter of Chuck and Carolyn (Williams) Morris. She attended Cassville High School. After graduating she attended SMSU/MSU obtaining a Bachelor of Arts, Master’s of Education, Master’s of Counseling and a Master’s of Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College in Carlisle, Penn. She was united in marriage to Russell Melton who preceded her in death in 2001. In 2009, she was united in marriage to her current husband Chief Warrant Officer 3 (Ret) Darrell Hovland. They ran a farm in Jenkins, where they raised their beautiful daughter Charley.

DAN NICKLE

Dan Nickle, age 80, passed away on April 28, 2022. Dan was born in Fresno, Calif., on September 14, 1941. He was raised in Southwest Missouri. He then served four years in the U.S. Army, stationed in Boston, Mass., and Teran, Iran (1964-1967). In 1973, he began his career with the City of Kansas City, Mo., where he worked as a Plan Examiner and Codes Administrator. In 1982, Dan then began a 25-year career with the City of Lakewood, Colo. Dan is fondly remembered for Co-Founding the Educational Institute in Denver and his years of work on the Board of Directors for Wilderness on Wheels, the Colorado Chapter of Building Officials, and the International Conference of Building Officials
