Trojans trudge through .500 season

Finishing at exactly .500, the Southwest baseball team had many highlights this season, but one-run games and untimely hitting hampered the Trojans through the spring. Derek Mann, Southwest baseball coach, said while the team ultimately fell short of its goals, it was able to accomplish plenty at 14-14.

Lady Trojans testing IQ

Going 9-13 this season, the Southwest softball team consistently worked on one major goal — testing its IQ. Emily Snyder, Lady Trojans softball coach, said the team this season achieved some team goals and missed some others.

Lady ‘Cats set wins record

A new era of Cassville girls soccer is dawning following a record-setting season that ended in one of the most painful ways in the sport — a penalty shootout. This year’s Lady Wildcats set the record for wins with a 13-6-2 mark, besting the 11-10 record of the first varsity season in 2019, and it tied its season record for shutouts with 8.

Achieving and reloading

The Exeter softball team just got better and better this season. Finishing at 15-8, the Lady Tigers fell to Purdy in the district semifinals, and though they did not reach the title bout, they did accomplish a goal never reach before — Ozark 7 champions.

Purdy makes pair of hoops hires

The Purdy school district announced the hiring of two professionals on May 21, both of which have 32 years of experience in education. A lifelong athlete, Stephanie Heman made her name at Joplin High School, graduating in 1987 and going on to play basketball and volleyball for Pittsburg State University, whereshegraduatedin1991with her Bachelor’s in Education.
