June 28, 2023 — Water is clear and low at Roaring River at 12.5 CFS as of Sunday — the dry fly fishing is great right now. Beetles, ants, caddis, blue wing olives, cahills, griffiths gnats, and hoppers are all working right now, and the use of a 9’ 7X leader is best.

Athletic training contract terminated

As a result of hiring shortages in the area, Cassville athletics may not have a full-time athletic trainer for sporting events when school starts in the fall. Lance Parnell, who just began his new role as athletic director, said the district was notified ta the end of May that Mercy would not be renewing its athletic trainer contract with the district.

The river is still low and clear the CFS as of Sunday and is almost 19, so with this clear low water, anglers will want to use 2-pound line when they can. The dry fly-fishing has been fantastic using blue wing olives, elk hair caddis, parachute Adams, Griffiths gnats, beetles and ants.

A new after-school program has been established at Cassville schools — eSports. Robbie Artherton, program sponsor, said the eSports program is for high school and middle school students that are interested in competitive, organized video gaming.
