Wildcats’ season ends in district play The Cassville boys golf team is focused on the future and improving in all aspects of the game after the Wildcats’ season ended in the district tournament this year. Jay Rogers, Cassville golf coach, said this was a year of learning for Cassville, and it was a positive one.

Anthonysz joins Golden Norseman

There’s no record, but Jake Anthonysz would certainly be in the conversation of most consistent wrestler ever in the Cassville program, and on Friday, he signed his name to grow from a Wildcat to a golden Norseman. A three-sport athlete in football, wrestling and track, Anthonysz has left his largest impact on the grappling squad, and he will join the team at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College next season.

The Cassville baseball team (12-18) was the No. 5 underdogs against No. 4 Aurora on Saturday, but the Wildcats turned in a record-breaking baserunning performance en route to a 5-4 win.

Jig On the Water

May 17, 2023 Roaring River came up to 83 CFS on Monday, so it is not flooded but it has gotten dirty, so back to mop flies, San Juan worms, egg patterns, stuff like that for the next few days until it clears up. There will still be a little bit of dry fly fishing, and I think beetles and ants will remain good choices for the rest of the summer.

16 earn All-Conference honors

Cassville saw 16 of its boys and girls track and field athletes medal at the Big 8 Conference Meet, and the teams are now focused on the stair steps to state. Nine Wildcats and seven Lady Wildcats earned All-Conference status in Monett on May 2, and the boys set a new school record in the 4x400 relay.

The Southwest baseball team (11-10) are on a sixgame win streak after going a perfect 3-0 at the Miller Invitational last week, besting Greenfield, 17-0; Sarcoxie, 3-2 in 10 innings; and Miller, 3-0. Against Sarcoxie, Brendyn Paulsen had the walk-off in the 10th after three scoreless innings.
