The Cassville Wildcat Basketball Boosters is hosting Jackie Stiles for the second time in Cassville with a basketball camp slated for June 27 at Cassville High School. Rachel Freeman, with the Boosters, said Arning put on the event last year, and since the Boosters is new this year, organizers wanted to make the camp happen again.

The river is still low and clear the CFS as of Sunday and is almost 19, so with this clear low water, anglers will want to use 2-pound line when they can. The dry fly-fishing has been fantastic using blue wing olives, elk hair caddis, parachute Adams, Griffiths gnats, beetles and ants.

The Purdy boys basketball team got a taste of summer action last week, laying five shortened games over two days at the annual Purdy Hoopfest. Heath Carmichael, Purdy boys basketball coach, said the event was an opportunity for the team to recalibrate its chemistry after losing six seniors from last season.

A youthful season for the Exeter softball team saw some goals met and some goals not, but the Lady Tigers are looking ahead and resetting with the goal of returning to the district title contest. Ashley Fly, Exeter softball coach, said with only two seniors, it was a season full of ups and downs, and plenty of learning on the go.

After the first 10 games for the Southwest baseball team, the season looked dire with only a single win. However, persistency and the ability to handle adversity allowed the Trojans to turn things around with a 13-11 finish and a Miller Invitational title in the midst of an 8-game win strek.

At the Arkansas/Missouri Shootout over the weekend, the Cassville Baseball Club 14U team honored Keaton Fare, a member of the team who died in a motorcycle wreck last week.

Ethan Bohmke and Tyson Bohmke, both of Cassville, participated in the 2023 USA Pickleball Middle States Diamond Regional Championships in Springfield on Sunday. They won Silver (2nd place) in the Men’s Doubles Group (3.0:19+). There were 425 registered players from across the nation who competed in multiple skills groups, including several professional level players. Placing second, the Bohmkes have qualified for the National Pickleball Tournament (Punta Gorda Classic) in Punta Gorda, Fla., on Oct. 20-22.
