Wildcats claw past Tigers

A rain delay did not dampen the Week 1 excitement, as the Cassville football team used a dynamic offense to sour Hollister’s home opener with a 35-26 win. The Wildcats started the contest by forcing a punt on the Tigers’ first drive, and Hernan Hernandez returned the ball from his own 40 to Hollister’s 32.

The Southwest high school volleyball team is hoping a mix of experience and work ethic will propel the team to great heights this season. Steve Voyak, in his 20th year as Southwest volleyball coach, said the things he saw over the summer bode well for the Lady Trojans this fall.

Lady Wildcats hit the links

It’s a promising year for the Cassville girls golf team. With a returning state medalist who is only a junior, plus two other junior returners, the Lady Wildcats have added seven more for a roster of 10, up a few from the 2021 season.

Wildcats drive toward maturity

For three seasons, the Cassville football team brought home some type of postseason hardware, and after a tough season marked by inexperience in 2021, the Wildcats are raising the bar this year. Clay Weldy, newly minted head coach entering his 15th season with Cassville, said inexperience was the challenge last year, and this year’s challenge is utilizing the growth from the last.
