5 make honor band
On Jan. 17, 13 Cassville band students in grades 7-8 auditioned for the Southwest Missouri Junior High District Honor Band, with five students earning a spot. The honor band performed Jan. 25 at Neosho High School, with a day of rehearsal ending with a concert.

7 Exeter students make honor bands
Seven Exeter students were selected recently to perform in Southwest Missouri District Honor Band. Biaktha Hnem was selected via audition as second-chair flute in the high school honor band, while Taylor Mattingly was selected as third-chair trumpet in the high school conference band.

Hang named to All-State Band
Monty Hang, a senior at Cassville High School who plays clarinet and saxophone, has been named Honorable Mention All-State Band. He is believed to be the first recipient of the recognition from Cassville in about 15 years.

Skits supplement sounds of the season at Winter Concert
With the guidance of Shane Paul, Santa Claus emerged victorious in the battle with his barbarian son during a skit as part of the Winter Concert on Dec. 7. Santa celebrated his victory with the middle school band members.

Tiger Band takes 3rd in small schools
On Oct. 19, the Exeter High School band participated in the Missouri Southern Homecoming Parade in downtown Joplin. The Tiger Band finished in third place in the small school division. The Tiger band will also perform in the Exeter Christmas Parade on Dec. 7, and the band will perform as part of the Exeter School Christmas concert on Dec. 17 at 6:30 p.m.

Band wins big in Marionville

Winner announced!
The Cassville High School Wildcat Jazz put on the 4th Annual Bikes, Blues, & BBQ fundraiser on April 5 out in front of the high school. This was just the second year the event featured the “bikes” element added in. The band held a vote to award a People’s Choice Award for the crowd’s favorite motorcycle, and the winner was Derek Cornelius, of Cassville, with his 2009 Harley Heritage Classic. Cornelius, right, won a free table at the 2025 Jazz Night in February 2025 ($100 value) and a small cash prize, presented by Band Booster President Kim Garner.
4th Annual Blues and BBQ on Friday
Wildcat Jazz to perform The Cassville Jazz Bands are tuning up for Blues and BBQ, inviting the community to bring their lawn chairs and blankets to the high school for this open-air concert and barbecue on Friday at 6:30 pm. Last year, Kelly Tolbert and some of his friends rode their motorcycles to the fundraiser.

The Cassville School District Jazz Bands, under the direction of Micah Boise and Kelli Pavlu, took the stage to perform at the 7th annual Jazz Night, Sweets and Treats, on Feb. 22.
