Hunting big plays, sparks on the gridiron

A mix of returners and newcomers will line up at various special teams positions for Cassville this year, including an All-Conference punter and two new soccer players looking to make a mark on the gridiron. Clay Weldy, Cassville football coach, said punting duties will mostly be in the hands of quarterback Bodee Rose, who utilizes a rugby style punting method to maximize offensive possibilities.

Haven of the Ozarks Pet of the Week, Aug. 21

Hutch and his buddy, Starsky, were found tied to the Haven sign at the end of our road with an electrical cord. Upon intake, we discovered Hutch had contracted Canine Parvovirus because he had not been properly vaccinated as a puppy. He required hospitalization at the vet. Hutch beat the virus and is ready to go to a home where he will be properly cared for and spoiled rotten. He is such a sweet dog who has a lot of love to share with his new family! Hutch is a tan colored pit bull mix Born on Jan. 17. Adopters can complete an adoption application at www.havenoftheozarks.org/adopt. No appointment is needed for adopters. The Haven is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., seven days a week. All Haven of the Ozarks pets are fixed, up to date on their vaccinations, and microchipped. 50 YEARS AGO: ANOTHER BANK PROJECT PHASE — When this picture was taken, construction of the Community Bank of Shell Knob turned to the interior as the openings were closed in with window and door installation and virtually all exterior work completed. Marking the phase, from the left are: Howard Mclirath, president; Lester Prewitt, general contractor; and Dan Short, executive vice-president. Prewitt began construction on the project March 25. Actual construction time was about 105 days for the structure containing 2,800 square feet in its 40x70 foot outside dimensions.

3 cases of Legionnaires’ disease reported at resort

The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS) is advising recent resort guests of a potential health concern for individuals that may have been in contact with a water source within the Roaring River Resort and RV Park, located at 23359 State Highway 112 near Cassville. DHSS has determined that three unassociated individuals who stayed at the Cassville resort in July of this year were diagnosed with Legionnaires’ disease within 14 days after their stay.
