The Cassville football team will rekindle Big 8 rivalries of yesteryear in its new schedule this season, which features a contest against each conference foe and one non-conference bout. Bird flu: Not just for the birds

Highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI), or “bird flu,” is on the move in dairy herds across the United States, and while scientists seemed baffled by the means of the H5N1 virus’ initial leap from poultry to a herd of Texas dairy cattle in March, poultry-industry insider William Wymore, of Owensville, believes its transmission can be easily explained. The storage and land-application of poultry and meat-processing sludge is facilitating the spread of bird flu, he alleges.

30 YEARS AGO: FIREWORKS SHOW FINALE — So bright was the Shell Knob fireworks finale, film didn’t separate the display, but obviously provided a lighting of the Central Crossing Bridge over Table Rock at right. Special firings of the Shell Knob C of C program boats ands spectators along the way who yelled, honked horns and flashed lights as their method of approving the show.
