The Cassville cross country teams competed in the Big 8 Conference Meet in Lamar on Oct. 22, with the future of the program bringing home some serious hardware.
Three times on Monday, the Cassville softball team was a single out away from hoisting a second consecutive title — and all three times, the opportunity slipped away.
With a district trophy in tow, the Cassville softball team is working its way through this season with solid pitching, and the Lady Wildcats have five Big 8 bouts left before the postseason comes calling. Jordan Savage, Cassville softball coach, said the Lady Wildcats (10-8) have had a good season, despite letting a few games go to their opponents.
The Cassville girls golf season is underway, with retired Coach Jay Rogers returning to the links to help the program continue to grow. Rogers retired from education at the end of the 20232024 school year, but when the opportunity arose to continue as girls golf coach, there was only one answer.
Having made history last season with its first-ever district title, the Cassville softball team is embarking on a new campaign this season with loads of experience and a new coach at the helm. Cassville is coming off one of its best seasons ever, going 16-15, tying the most wins on record for the team, set in 2011 and tied again in 2023.
A high school soccer game is 80 minutes long, and for more than four of them in a row this season, no one could score on Cassville. The 400-minute shutout streak included wins over Parkview, 2-0, and McAuley Catholic, 3-0, a 0-0 tie with Pittsburg (Kan.), then a victory over Monett, 3-0.
